Hélène Deslauriers
Former Special Advisor, The Réseau des SADC et CAE
Former National Advisory Committee Member (from 2020 to 2021)
Historian by training (master’s in History and Archeology, Université de Laval), Ms. Deslauriers has eleven years of practice in research and archeology at Parks Canada. She has worked with various heritage conservation groups leading her to set up, with other colleagues, the Rues Principales program in Quebec.
For nearly twelve years, she traveled the regions of Quebec, accompanying people from different backgrounds in a process of consultation and revitalization. She also participated in the implementation of numerous Rues Principales projects in Francophone communities outside Quebec. She was particularly involved in the development and delivery of practical training programs in economic development for community workers.
Ms. Deslauriers worked within the Réseau des SADC et CAE in Quebec for 24 years as Executive Director, and for a few years as Special Advisor with, among others, a government relations mandate. Within the Réseau, she devoted her efforts to ensuring the implementation of structuring initiatives for companies such as the Youth Strategy or the Local Intervention Measure while working to obtain adequate and sustainable funding for the SADCs et CAEs. During the year 2020-2021, more than 125M were granted to the Réseau des SADC et CAE by the Government of Canada to support businesses in this time of financial and health crisis. Hélène Deslauriers has always had a particular concern for the advancement of women, including women entrepreneurship.
Ms. Deslauriers was also for seven years on the Board of Directors of the Quebec Press Council and for seven more years on the Appeal Board of the same organization. She currently sits on various boards.
