Spotlight on Leading Lenders - Melanie Campbell
November 14, 2022
Melanie Campbell is shining the spotlight on women entrepreneurs in her role at TD with Women in Enterprise at TD Bank.
As stated by Melanie: “We are committed to helping build strong, inclusive communities, where every person has the tools, resources, and support they need to feel confident in what their future holds.” One of the steps that TD is taking to reach this goal is investing in programs and initiatives like Women in Enterprise, which aims to facilitate the success and growth of women entrepreneurs and women-led businesses and helps remove barriers for women, challenges stereotypes, and helps create conditions where gender equity can become a reality.
Through Melanie’s work, as a Regional Sales Manager, TD provides education, financing, mentoring, and community support to women entrepreneurs. This environment also encourages women to engage with like-minded entrepreneurs so that they can share experiences and learn from each other.
Melanie says that Leading Lenders content is aligned with the work that they are doing at TD: “We are expanding our network of Women in Enterprise accredited bankers across Canada. Our WE (Women In Enterprise) Bankers have received training on understanding the barriers and biases that women face in accessing financing and this accreditation empowers TD bankers to establish the much-needed relationship of trust for women in business.”
One of the most important aspects of the work that Melanie and TD Bank are doing is supporting community-based programs that provide networking and mentorship for women entrepreneurs. As Melanie states: “These types of programs and resources can be a valuable tool in helping to support growth, knowledge, allyship, and networking — all of which are so important when it comes to supporting women entrepreneurs and women-led businesses.”
Melanie has a serving leadership mentality, and she believes by teaching people to tune in to their emotions with intelligence we can all transform organizations from the inside out and make a positive difference in our world.
As the Regional Manager for Women in Enterprise at TD Bank, Melanie has the privilege of driving the Bank’s mission of supporting and financing more female entrepreneurs. She believes there is power in community, and when women come together, they change the world. Outside of her role, Melanie also sits on two Diversity & Inclusion committees within TD Bank.
Her personal motto is "Do More & Be More."
Fun Fact: Melanie spent seven years of her career in the Canadian Armed Forces. Melanie was one of the first women to have accommodations on a Canadian Naval Ship in 1990 under the Minister of National Defense monitoring the program of gender integration.
