Woman/women

We seek to define the terms woman/women based on gender, not sex: gender is a social construct, whereas sex is biological and determined at birth. Throughout our toolkit, we take the position that all women identify as such by gender, not sex, whether they are cis-women, trans or in some other category. However, data from research, academic studies, etc. typically adheres to a narrow definition of woman/women as cis-women (i.e. women who self-identify as such based on the sex they were assigned at birth). Unfortunately, the data we collected is limited in terms of diversity of sexual identity, expression and orientation.
